Food & Drink Festival

Each spring, the picturesque harbour of Porthleven comes alive with the vibrant energy of the Porthleven Food Festival, a much-loved celebration of Cornwall’s rich culinary heritage. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, the festival brings together renowned chefs, local producers, and food enthusiasts for a weekend of demonstrations, tastings, and lively street food markets. The Torchlight Procession

The Torchlight Procession was revived by the Porthleven Community Group in 2013 but is believed to originate back to 1948, as part of the Gala Week festivities. Today, it remains one of the most atmospheric events in Porthleven’s calendar, drawing around 1,000 participants who wind their way through the village carrying flickering torches. Held on August Bank Holiday Monday, the procession creates a striking spectacle against the coastal backdrop, bringing locals and visitors together for a memorable and slightly magical farewell to the summer season.

Porthleven Life Boat Day

Each summer, the harbour at Porthleven plays host to the much-loved Porthleven Lifeboat Day, a lively celebration in support of the vital work carried out by the RNLI. The day is filled with family-friendly entertainment, including lifeboat demonstrations, live music, stalls, and activities along the quayside, all set against the backdrop of the working harbour. Visitors can learn more about the lifesaving role of the volunteer crew while enjoying the festive atmosphere, making it both an entertaining and meaningful highlight of the summer calendar.
